I once read very good article on detachment somewhere, which said that everything in this world comes with an expiry date. Every materialistic or non materialistic, tangilble or intangible things come with expiry date. You relationship with a things, people all are based on your karma. The moment that period ends even if you keep those valuable things in your the most proctected locker they will leave you, break or get destroyed.
I kept on thinking on this theory and realized that it was true. We all try are level best to preserve our most valuable belongings. We buy lockers to keep our gold safe, we pray for long lives of our dearones and we keep ou costly articles with utter care. But when the end comes it do comes nothing can stop all those things from destroying. Observing and by mediditating on all such incidences, I realised that we all just waste so much of our time in trying to keep relationship going, accumalating wealth, building territories only to lose them in one go. Death do us apart from all those things in just one second.
Yet we make ourselves believe this will stay with me even after my death. We cheat people, we cheat ourselves by believing that I will be there forever but the fact is not one remains there forever.
I have started practicing theory of detachment. All the things that happening around me breaks my hear, make me happy, makes me feel powerful but only for the moment. Because I continously feed myself "THIS TOO SHALL PASS". Now things don't hurt me that much because my expectation from others is reducing. I just see people coming in my life as a cold breeze or hot breeze which will not be there forever they will pass.
Some may feel I am being escapist. Maybe you are right but rather than mourning, brooding over bad influence and behaviour of others, if start practicing detachment you will remain happy in your own world, where people of all type come, stay for second, play their character and just move ahead.

Simple Living
In this materialistic world Gandhian philosophy of Simple living seems so abstract. We cant imagine living with bare minimum things or with things need to survive in this world. We want every thing. We want things that are available in market. I am one of those thousands who wants everything in this world that is best and available. But I am feeling that I am loosing interest in those gadgets, food, household articles, luxuries that has been provided to me without me demanding for it.
I read somewhere that nature guides you everyday every minute and teaches you some important lessons.
This week I learnt lessons in Simple living through three different incidence as if nature guiding me towards my quest of learning about ART OF LIVING.
The best lesson I learnt was from my two and half year old son of Cousin, Shiv. Usually kids wants everything they see and that attracts them. Shiv is all together different type of child. At this tender age he believes in Simple living. He believes in wearing simple clothes, doesn't like to wear costly clothes. Uses his elder sister's sandal. Wears same sweater everyday. If forced by his parents to wear good clothes he cries a lot and opposes till his wish is respected. Whenever his parents takes him to shops to buy new clothes he shows his old clothes and says I don't want new clothes I am happy with clothes I am wearing.
Of course his parents don't like his behaviour. They want to dress him in best clothes and best attire. They purchase costly clothes, sweater, foot wear for him. But Shiv refuses to wear them and finally they are donated to children of laborers.
Although Shiv is just two and half but somewhere he is born with quality of simple living. Shiv reminded me of Prof. Anil Gupta of IIM Ahmedabad, A genius yet can be seen in simple khadi or cotton clothes. Mr. Gupta doesn't have to show brand of his kurta to prove his point or success in life.
Second lesson was an article in Today's supplement of The Times of India. An article on Simple living. As if this too was guiding me towards simple living. Articles says remove all the clutter around the house. How much clutter do we collect in our house, thinking this would be helpful someday and eventually after few years it becomes scrape. Similarly we collect of clutter in our mind. Majority of our memories are clutter. Which becomes scape after few moment yet we keep those memories alive in a quest it would be helpful to us someday. Majority of our memories are bad memories. We hardly store good memories inside us. Because we are sadistic people who love to lick our bad experiences, bad memories those wounds that were given to us by certain situations in life. We love to torture ourselves with those painful memories. We are scared if we lose them our whole existence will be a question mark. We want them because we love to live a sympathetic life. I have started erasing many of such memories and am sure will do away with it. I have to otherwise I will not have enough time to enjoy life. Life is one big Opera which we all should enjoy without getting involve in the dramas unfolding...
The Third lesson came in just few minutes after second experience. Passing away of Mr. Jyoti Basu. I am not communist but I have great Respect for Mr. Jyoti Basu. His simple living and leadership qualities are incomparable. Mr. Basu would always be in simple cotton dhoti and kurta. His physique shows he was simple eater and a hard worker. Unlike many of us who wants branded things, hi-fi life style this man ruled his state for 23 years believing in his philoshopy.
Oh how can I forget one more lesson of Simple living...Amitabh Bachhan's visit to Mr. Narendra Modi's residence. Mr. Modi is Chief Minister of Gujarat. Although he strongly believes in Extravaganza in launching his dream projects he lives a simple life himself. Many of us criticizes him for his extravaganzas in public programs but frankly saying that what motivates us. It creats Euphoria among his people to do all possible things to achieve excellence. Yet Mr. Modi in his life leaves a simple and discipline life.
I know in reality when we are all engrossed in rat race it is difficult to live this type of lifestyle. Shiv is too young and hasn't explore the real world yet. An article always sounds good, Mr. Basu and Mr. Modi being head of the two states enjoyed all the luxuries that comes naturally to them and as per me I am torn between two different life. I want to join rat race because All the luxury I have is not earned by me, they are earned by people around me and I just got them without any pain. But at the same time something inside me tells me I am not born for and should not be part of this rat race. But frankly saying maybe I am part of this rat race but like many of materialistic successful people longing to give up all their richness for simple living, somewhere down I want to free myself from materialistic world, cause it snatches away joy of enjoying whatever you have earned.

Pseudo Atheism
Pseudo Atheism
Recently, I had a chance to talk to a Muslim gentleman, who claims to be rationalist, atheist, who don’t perform namaz or rozas. He said in don’t believe in religion followed by thousands across the globe. He says he is neither Muslim, Hindu, Christian or Buddhist, his religion is Humanity.
Sounds very impressive anyone can get impress by his version of humanity. I was not. Because I strongly believe people claim themselves to be atheist but that is only a short phase of their life. I have come across so many atheist who talk similar things but as you talk to them for longer time you understand that they aren’t atheist at all. These bunch of people are pseudo atheist.
This gentleman started his conversion by giving his inclination about Atheistim and rationality. But as I refused to join his school of thoughts, the first thing he told me was, During 2002 Communal Riots how many muslims you reached out to???. I said, none because I didn’t need t. He placed the question again. My answer neither I reached out to Hindus or Muslims. All I did was I kept to my senses alive.
Then he went on to inform me how many muslims were killed during this riots. Of course he did acknowledge that all this happened because muslims killing Karsevaks on 27th. For rest of our conversation on this topic he was more sympathetic towards muslims rather than humans. He wanted me to reach out to muslims? WHY? Why he didn’t wanted me to reach out to Humans. The organisation he belonged to was also named after muslim gentleman? And still he claimed himself to be atheist.
I personally feel, I am happy of being religious, spiritual. Atleast it gives me chance to respect other people’s inclination towards some particular religion. I am Hindu and proud to be one. Why should be someone ashamed of one own religion. You are only ashamed if you do not understand your religion properly. People who are over passionate about their religion are also the one who haven’t understood tenements of their religion properly. Cause if you go by any religion they teach humans to be more humans. Taliban need Islam for big goal they have. Its not about spreading islam but it is all about capturing world. Vatican don’t want to convert people across the world to make them more human. It is again business. Religion is biggest industry in the world. Look at no. of religious Gurus popping up in India. Yet religion and humanity is at decline.
How many of us get enlighten by religious leaders moving in AC Cars, First class flights, wearing costly robes, living in palace like abodes. Ultimate when we sit before them we see richness, money and more money. We hardly hear what they want to say because Visuals are more powerful then words.
Ram, Buddha, Mahavir Swami, Jesus or even Mohammed became Gods or sons of Gods because they followed what they preached.
This gentleman was preaching atheism or rationalism but was not able to leave his religion and was more concerned with what happened in 2002. What if I would have asked him to go to root cause of what happened in 2002. He would have had go to some good centuries back. When People like Babars, invaded India, destroyed Hindu Temples, Converted helpless Hindus to Islam at Sword point. You want us to forget all those and start fresh. Fresh, how fresh??? As Fresh as 2002. Thank God he didn’t go to Babri Demolition and Rath Yatra by Mr. Advani.
I think greatest threat to humanity is from atheist, who generally end up promoting love between humans, which in the ends up to love in the form of romance between man and woman.
